Panic Disorder

This is the most common anxiety disorder. It often presents itself with depression. Mostly it affects young adults. Panic disorder consists of periodic attacks of anxiety or terror which is often brought on unexpectedly and without reason. Generally attacks last 15 to 30 minutes. It is common for attacks to occur in a public place. for some people they happen as regualary as once a week. For others it can be every few months. There's no obvious explaination for why people get them. For someone to be diagnosed with this disorder they must have at least four of the following symptoms and have four or more attacks within a four week period.


Fast heart beat
Extreme sweating
Shortness of breath
Shakiness
A choking sensation
dizziness
Nausea
Numbness
Hot flashes/chills
Chest pains
Fear of dying
Fear of loosing control
